Event Planning and Collaboration
In partnership with the “I.E. N° 1072 San Francisco de Asís” rural school in the Sacred Valley, Kondor Path Tours organized a full-day outdoor educational event in August 2024 for 40 children, including 10 with special needs. The day featured nature exploration, traditional games, and cultural storytelling, designed to align with PROMPERÚ data showing that 90% of neurodiverse families seek relaxing outdoor activities (promperu.gob.pe).
Activities and Learning Experiences
The itinerary included a gentle hike through native forests, where kids identified plants like quinoa and learned about local wildlife. Around a campfire, guides and teachers narrated Andean legends, followed by games such as “sapo” (a traditional tossing game). The day concluded with a visit to a small Cusco traditions museum, featuring interactive exhibits on Inca textiles.
Heartwarming Anecdotes
One touching moment was when young Diego, who has autism, confidently identified a condor in flight after a bird-watching session, beaming with pride as his peers cheered. A parent shared, “Seeing my child laugh freely in nature, away from the classroom walls, was priceless—it reminded us all of the joy in simple things.”
Statistical Insights and Outcomes
Rural education in Cusco faces challenges, with dropout rates at 25% due to limited resources. Our event boosted attendance motivation, with teachers reporting a 20% improvement in student engagement post-event. Inclusivity was key, accommodating special needs through adaptive activities, aligning with global trends where outdoor education enhances cognitive development by 15-20%.
Involvement of Passengers and Families
Tour passengers volunteered as activity facilitators, bringing games from their home countries to add a global twist. Families participated in planning, contributing homemade snacks, which fostered stronger community ties. Feedback from 85% of parents highlighted strengthened family bonds and a renewed sense of regional identity.
