Overview

What to Expect on This 8-Day Amazon and Machu Picchu Tour

This 8-day journey through Peru connects two of the country’s most iconic regions — the Amazon rainforest and the Andes Mountains. It’s designed for travelers who want to experience wildlife, culture, and history in a complete, well-balanced itinerary.

Your adventure begins in the Tambopata region near Puerto Maldonado, where river journeys, guided jungle walks, and visits to clay licks introduce you to one of the most biodiverse ecosystems on Earth. Expect early mornings filled with birdsong, opportunities to spot monkeys and river wildlife, and evenings surrounded by the sounds of the rainforest.

Midway through the journey, you’ll transition from the lowland jungle to the high Andes. In Cusco and the Sacred Valley, you’ll discover the legacy of the Inca civilization through archaeological sites, local traditions, and dramatic mountain landscapes. The experience culminates with a guided visit to Machu Picchu — where history, engineering, and scenery come together in one unforgettable setting.

This tour offers a broader perspective of Peru — from tropical rainforest to ancient stone citadels high in the mountains.

Why This Andes + Amazon Peru Journey Stands Out

  • This is a true multi-region experience in Peru. In just eight days, you’ll move from the humid Amazon Basin to the dramatic Andean highlands, experiencing two completely different ecosystems in one seamless adventure.
  • Instead of choosing between wildlife and Inca history, you experience both. River explorations, jungle biodiversity, and clay lick visits are followed by ancient ruins, traditional Andean culture, and the iconic landscapes surrounding Machu Picchu.
  • The contrasts make the journey unforgettable — sunrise in the rainforest one day, panoramic mountain views the next. Few itineraries offer such diversity in such a well-paced format.
  • By the time you arrive at Machu Picchu, you’ve already explored Peru’s wild side. This combination of nature, culture, and archaeology creates a more complete and meaningful travel experience.
