Travel Guide

The Nazca Lines are a series of ancient geoglyphs in southern Peru in the Nazca Desert. These massive line drawings depict various animals, plants, and geometric shapes, and the Nazca culture created them between 500 BCE and 500 CE.

A flight over the Nazca Lines is a unique experience that allows you to view the geoglyphs from above. You board a small aircraft and soar over the desert, providing a bird’s-eye view of the intricate and mysterious designs etched into the landscape.

The duration of the flight can vary depending on the tour package and operator. On average, the flight over the Nazca Lines lasts approximately 30 to 45 minutes, during which you can see multiple geoglyphs.

Generally, anyone in good health and without any medical conditions that could be exacerbated by flying can take a flight over the Nazca Lines. However, it’s always recommended to consult with your doctor if you have any concerns. There may be age restrictions for safety reasons, so checking with the tour operator regarding any specific age requirements is advisable.

Flights over the Nazca Lines are considered safe. The tour operators use certified aircraft and experienced pilots familiar with the area. They follow strict safety guidelines and regulations to ensure passengers have a secure and enjoyable experience.

The aircraft used for the flight over the Nazca Lines are typically small planes or helicopters with large windows, providing unobstructed views of the geoglyphs. These aircraft are specifically designed for sightseeing and equipped with safety features.

The planes fly at relatively low altitudes, allowing passengers to see the Nazca Lines. The exact distance may vary, but it’s usually around 500 to 1,500 feet (150 to 450 meters) above the ground.

Yes, photography is usually allowed during the flight. The planes have large windows that offer excellent visibility, allowing you to capture photos and videos of the Nazca Lines. Make sure to bring a camera or smartphone with you to document this extraordinary experience.

Most tour operators provide audio guides or commentary in multiple languages during the flight. These guides provide information about the Nazca Lines, their history, and the geoglyphs you will see, enhancing your understanding and appreciation of the site.

The Nazca Lines are best viewed from the air, as their large-scale designs can only be fully appreciated from above. However, there are viewpoints along the Pan-American Highway where you can see a few of the simpler geoglyphs from the ground.

Most tour packages include transportation to the Nazca airport from designated meeting points or hotels. The tour operator will arrange transportation to ensure you reach the airport on time for your scheduled flight.

Visitors are typically required to follow specific guidelines during the flight, such as fastening seat belts, refraining from standing or moving around the aircraft, and not leaning against the windows.

Maras and Moray + Pachamanca Easily the best tour experience I had during my trip to Peru. I highly recommend Kondor Tours as the customer service is top-notch. James responded to my queries almost instantly each time and was very helpful. We were even treated to a can of cusquenia beer each when we visited the office! Our guide Alfredo was absolutely amazing and we were fortunate to have him as our guide for the tour. He is very passionate about his job and shared so much valuable information with us. He has a very candid character and we were very comfortable throughout! I highly recommend requesting for him as your guide (the best we had while touring Peru for 3 weeks). Also, I would say opting in for and additional traditional peruvian pachamanca meal experience must not be missed. The community people were very warm and gracious hosts and it is eye opening to witness the preparation of such a traditional feast normally done only for special occasions like weddings. We even had time for dancing! Two thumbs up for sure!

3-day Choquequirao Trek We took a three-day private group trek to Choquequirao as a family of five. Kondor Path Tours organized a pick-up and drop-off in Urubamba instead of Cusco and did an extra stop at the Saywhite archeological site. Everything went very smoothly during the entire trip, meals and accommodation were as expected or better. The trek itself is quite demanding (particularly in three days), but the nature/ views/ Choquequirao/ dearth of tourists largely compensate. Anyway, we were looking for a physical challenge! Our guide Oron was great. Explaining, motivating, solving potential problems/ demands. We would definitely recommend Kondor Path Tours.

We were supposed to visit the rainbow mountain but with the recent protesting we called to see if we could change last minute and they were very accommodating. Odon and Fernando were amazing! They took us to see multiple attractions and made us feel very at home. And kudos to Renee for the amazing driving. I would highly recommend using this company for a tour. Family vacation Kondor path tours arranged a couple of private tours on our last vacation in Peru. Our first tour was the Rainbow Mountains and the next day we did the sacred Valley Tour. The administrative services were excellent, we met at our hotel the day before our tours and our head guide, Fredy, explained everything perfectly, including what to wear and bring for each tour. On the tour days, our guides (Fredy and Juan Carlos) and driver (Juan Carlos) were great! very knowledgeable, considerate about our party, always helpful and ready to answer questions and meet the expectations (completely different expectations because we had different ages in our party (from 11 to 69 years)) of each party member. The rainbow mountain is awesome and is is really helpful to go with a guide that knows about the area, but also about hiking!!!

Excellent guide who stays with you for the entire day The Vinicunca one-day horse tour was fantastic. The friendly and informative Freddy guided us for the entire bus ride and mountain trek. He knew where to stand to get the best photos and made everything fun and accommodating. The horse ride up made it much easier to enjoy the final hike. Lunch was large and tasty. Door to door service.

Awesome Service and Tours Fernando and Patricia were SUPER responsive - usually responded to emails within 10 minutes!!. The arrangements they made for Cusco, Machu Picchu, Sacred Valley, and surrounding areas were awesome. They were waiting for us at the airport and did everything we asked them. Our guide for the four days was Herberth and driver was Juan Carlos. Both were SUPER SUPER great. Juan Carlos was such an amazingly pleasant driver with cute stories. He also was a very safe driver. Herberth was very knowledgable and helpful. Took us all over the places with details about the history and details. We had friends who were not able to climb much and they accommodated us all. On the day we had planned to do rainbow mountain we did not feel great and emailed Fernando at 5am and he responded within 5 minutes with other options for us to do that day. Overall, if you are going to Peru and want to visit the historic sites, you SHOULD go with these people. They are SUPERB!!
