The 5 Day Inca Trail is designed for travelers who want to experience the legendary route to Machu Picchu with more time to rest, acclimatize, and enjoy the scenery. While the route follows the same ancient Inca Trail as the 4-day version, the extra day creates a more balanced hiking experience with shorter walking distances and less physical pressure.
This itinerary is ideal for hikers seeking a slower-paced adventure through the Andes while still completing the full Inca Trail to Machu Picchu.
On the first day of the Inca Trail trek, we will start at KM 82 and hike to Wayllabamba.
This is a relatively easy day of hiking, covering a distance of approximately 12km. Along the way, we will pass through small villages and enjoy stunning views of the Andes Mountains.
We will also have the opportunity to visit the archaeological site of Llactapata before arriving at our campsite in Wayllabamba. This is an excellent opportunity to acclimate to the altitude and get to know your fellow trekkers.

On day 2 of the Inca Trail trek, we will wake up early and begin our ascent to the highest point on the trail, Warmiwañusca (Dead Woman’s Pass), at 4,215m.
This is the most demanding day of the trek as we ascend toward Warmiwañusca Pass (Dead Woman’s Pass) at 4,215 meters. Reaching the summit is one of the most rewarding moments of the entire Inca Trail experience, surrounded by dramatic mountain scenery and panoramic Andean views.
After a well-deserved break, we will continue our descent to our campsite in Pacaymayo. We will pass through beautiful cloud forests and see more Inca ruins.

On day 3 of the Inca Trail trek, we will wake up early and hike to the second-highest pass, Runkuracay (3,970m). From there, we will descend to the ruins of Sayacmarca and continue on to the beautiful ruins of Phuyupatamarca.
After lunch, we will hike through the cloud forest to our final campsite at Wiñay Wayna. This campsite offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains and is near the impressive Wiñay Wayna ruins.

An early morning hike leads us to the Sun Gate (Inti Punku), where the first panoramic view of Machu Picchu slowly appears through the mountains — one of the most unforgettable moments of the entire journey.
Our knowledgeable guide will provide insights into the history and significance of Machu Picchu. Then we take the bus to Machu Picchu Pueblo, where we will spend the night in a comfortable hotel.
