Why Choose the 5 Day Inca Trail Instead of the 4 Day?

  • The 5 Day Inca Trail is perfect for travelers who want a slower pace and a more immersive experience in the Andes. While the 4 Day Inca Trail follows the same classic route, the 5 Day version spreads the trek over an extra day, allowing for shorter hiking distances and more time to rest, explore, and truly enjoy the scenery.
  • With the additional day, you’ll experience less physical pressure, especially when crossing high mountain passes like Dead Woman’s Pass. Campsites are less rushed, and there’s more time to appreciate archaeological sites along the way without feeling hurried.
  • This itinerary is ideal for families, couples, or hikers who prefer a balanced adventure rather than a fast-paced challenge. It’s also a great option for those who want to acclimatize gradually to the altitude while still completing the full Inca Trail experience.
  • In short, the 4 Day trek is more intense and compact, while the 5 Day Inca Trail offers a more relaxed, comfortable journey to Machu Picchu — without sacrificing the magic of the route.
