Travel Guide

Yes, it is possible to have a budget-friendly trip to Machu Picchu, but certain expenses, such as entrance tickets, are unavoidable.

The first extreme is the expensive train option, which is not feasible for most budget travelers. The second extreme involves walking most of the way and cutting costs wherever possible.

The entrance tickets are not included in the suggested options and must be purchased separately. The cost is 152 soles, or US$60 for adults and 75 soles, or US$28 for students with ISIC cards.

The text doesn’t elaborate on the specific details of the alternative approach. However, it implies that organizing the trip independently can be more accessible and affordable than relying on expensive tours.

A budget-friendly trip is possible without completely roughing it out or staying in a tent. The alternative approach aims to provide a more comfortable experience while decreasing costs.

The text suggests avoiding tours because they can be unnecessary, time-consuming, and potentially expensive. The alternative approach outlined in the text allows for a more flexible and budget-friendly experience.

The recommended route involves taking a car or shuttle bus from Cusco to the hydroelectric plant (Hidroelectrica). From there, a flat and easy walk to Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu town) for a couple of hours. Visitors can explore Machu Picchu the next day and return to Hidroelectrica to catch a shuttle back to Cusco.

When booking cheap trips, clarifying what the package includes is essential. Confirm whether Machu Picchu entrance tickets are included and get all the details in writing. Additionally, make sure to obtain a contact detail for the booking.

One of the advantages of organizing your trip is having the freedom to choose where you eat in Machu Picchu town (Aguas Calientes). There are plenty of dining options to explore and enjoy.

Yes, there is a US$25.00 discount for individuals from the Andean Community group, which includes Peru, Colombia, Ecuador, and Bolivia.

Yes, students with an undergraduate student card can avail of a US$20.00 discount. The card must meet specific requirements, including PVC material, university information, personal student information, a student picture, and a valid expiration date. The discount applies to students up to 25 years old, and ISIC cards are no longer suitable.

According to the new regulation, the entrance ticket is only valid for a single entry. You cannot re-enter the park once you enter and explore Machu Picchu. If you wish to stay longer, you must purchase an additional ticket for $50.00. Typically, visitors spend around 2 to 2.5 hours inside the park, which is sufficient for this tour.

The prices mentioned are for shared service or group tours with a group size of 10 to 15 people. If you want a private excursion, please inquire about the prices separately.

We have a departure every day, allowing you flexibility in choosing a suitable date for your tour.

To participate in this tour, you must be in Cusco at least one day before the tour starts. This allows time for necessary preparations and arrangements before heading to Machu Picchu.
