Itinerary

Day 1: Hike to the Humantay lagoon with extension to the Salkantay Pampa camp

We start the trip from the city of Cusco at 05:00 in the morning to have adequate time to conquer the beautiful turquoise lagoon of Humantay. Then we continue the walk towards the base of the Salkantay mountain range camping in Salkantay Pampa.

It is advisable to carry walking poles to obtain the walking balance of our athletic body. It is also essential to know that it is cold in the afternoon; Which means that they must put on their daypacks the appropriate coat to enjoy our trek through the Andes of Salkantay.

Day 2: Conquer the Salkantay pass overlooking the snowy mountain and camping in Collpapampa

At the beginning of the hike, it is pretty cold due to the breezes of the Salkantay. Around 9 am. At 10 am, the weather improves with solar radiation in this part of the mountain; It is essential to walk rhythmically but slowly to conquer the Salkantay pass. After only three hours of walking, we reached the top of the whole adventure; from the top, we will observe the two inter-Andean valleys with impressive panoramic views of different colors of the Andes as a whole. The best souvenir photos are at the top of the pass; the rest of the walk is all descent for about five hours until we reach our base camp.

Most hikers come from different countries with current modernity; when we got to the Salkantay mountain. We have a rustic and natural path in which we will find many stones of various sizes along the descent, for which we recommend walking poles and shoes with high ankles to have a suitable walk.

Day 3: Explore the low forest or cloud forest from Collpapampa to La Playa with camp in Lucmabamba

The adventure is through the high jungle of the Andes known as the cloud forest. From the beginning of the trek, we have a natural botanical garden. In the first hour of walking, we find natural thermal baths, forest fruits such as the strawberry from the Andes; the walker can collect them to test them. The Totorayoc river will always accompany us; We will cross several streams and appreciate a beautiful waterfall before reaching Wiñay Poco.

From Wiñay Poco, we have avocado, passion fruit, and many organic coffee plantations classified as one of the best within the Cusco region, Peru. Hiking is one of the most pleasant for presenting stretches of varied scenic landscapes until we reach La Playa and our Lucmabamba camp.

We start the walk from Aguas Calientes, following the train track until we reach kilometer 104. We walk along with the short version of the Inca trail until we get to the ruins of Intipunku. In Intipunku, we have the other panoramic view of Machu Picchu, one of the most spectacular of the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu with a view of Huayna Picchu, the impressive Urubamba River that surrounds the entire Inca citadel.
