DAY 2

Hiking from Cabanaconde to Sangalle

Enjoy the walk to the fullest! We start hiking at 07:30 from Cabanaconde, descending into the depths of the Colca Canyon until reaching the Colca River. We cross the suspension bridge and ascend towards San Juan de Chuccho.

We continue the walk, bordering the Colca Canyon, gradually ascending until we reach the zigzag system that goes up to Cosñirhua and Malata. From Cosñirhua, the path is semi-flat until we find the way that descends towards the Colca Canyon towards Sangalle, “the Oasis.”

Hiking Time: 6-7h | Difficulty: Medium-Hard

  • MIRADOR SAN MIGUEL TO SAN JUAN DE CHUCCHO: Time: 2h45min | Difficulty: Hard – This section is a constant steep descent until the bottom of the canyon to the Colca River.
  • SAN JUAN DE CHUCCHO TO COSÑIRHUA: Time: 1h15min | Difficulty: Hard – This section of the trail is very steep and a constant for little more than an hour’s ascent under the sun until Cosñirhua.

  • MALATA TO SANGALLE (THE OASIS) – Time: 1h30min | Difficulty: Medium – This section is an entire descending zigzagging trail. After the descent, we arrive at a bridge that is also the Oasis’s beginning. Once there, we only need to climb several more curves to get to Sangalle.

This is my last day! Hike out of the Colca Canyon uphill through a zigzagging system until you reach Cabanaconde. At 5:00 a.m., the walk begins and takes about three and a half hours, a challenging hike with fantastic sunrise views.

We board the private transport in Cabanaconde to return to Arequipa, but before that, we have some technical stops, such as stopping to enjoy the flight of the condors at the Cruz del Cóndor viewpoint.

In Chivay, enjoy the thermal baths of La Calera after the great trekking expedition through the Colca Canyon. Then we return to Arequipa directly, without stops. NOTE: If the group needs to travel to Puno, write to us.
