Women-Only Machu Picchu Tour 5 Days

A 5-day itinerary designed exclusively for women, from Cusco to Machu Picchu and Rainbow Mountain.
The Women-Only Machu Picchu Tour 5 Days is designed exclusively for female travelers — solo women, women’s groups, sisters, mother-daughter trips, bachelorette parties, women’s retreats, and post-divorce or life-transition travelers. Five carefully sequenced days through the imperial city of Cusco, the Sacred Valley with Pisac and Ollantaytambo, the iconic Short Inca Trail day hike to Machu Picchu through the Sun Gate, and Rainbow Mountain (Vinicunca, 5,100 m) by horse on the final day.
Three reasons women specifically book with Kondor Path Tours for Peru:
1. Female bilingual guides whenever available. Our certified guide network includes experienced female guides who lead these tours when scheduled. Female guides represent approximately 30% of certified DIRCETUR Cusco guides, and we prioritize them for women-only bookings. With 60+ days advance notice, we can guarantee a female guide for your group.
2. Direct operator from Cusco — free hotel choice. We are not an agency, not a reseller, not an aggregator. Everything is booked through our licensed Cusco office (DIRCETUR-registered). You pay the source price. You choose your own hotels — boutique female-friendly properties, hostels, or premium options — and we coordinate pickup directly from wherever you stay. Zero hidden hotel markups in our tour price.
3. The Short Inca Trail is the highlight. Day 3 takes you on the iconic one-day version of the original Inca pilgrim path — 11 kilometers of stone-paved trail from Km 104 of the railway, climbing through cloud forest to the Wiñay Wayna ruins, then continuing along the high path to Inti Punku (the Sun Gate, 2,720 m) — the dramatic stone gateway where the Incas first sighted Machu Picchu below. Walking this trail in a women-only group creates one of the most powerful bonding experiences of the tour.
Ideal for solo female travelers seeking safety in numbers, bachelorette parties wanting adventure over party destinations, mother-daughter trips across all ages, sisters traveling together, and women’s retreat groups organized by yoga studios, book clubs, or professional networks.

Get ready: the Women-Only Machu Picchu Tour 5 Days from Cusco covers 5 days of real Peru. – Female bilingual guides whenever available (60+ days’ notice to guarantee). – Cusco City Tour — Cathedral, Coricancha, Sacsayhuaman, Q’enqo, Puca Pucara. – Sacred Valley with Awana Kancha + Pisac + Ollantaytambo — including a stop at the South American camelid farm. – Visit to women-led textile cooperative (Chinchero or Sacred Valley) — direct cultural exchange with Quechua. This is the Women-Only Machu Picchu Tour 5 Days from Cusco at its best.
The decision to travel in a women-only group is increasingly common — and the reasons go far beyond marketing.
Safety in numbers. Solo female travelers consistently report higher confidence levels in women-only groups, especially in unfamiliar cultures. Cusco is widely considered one of the safer Latin American tourist destinations, but the comfort of moving as a group of women through markets, archaeological sites, train stations, and high-altitude trails removes most situational concerns.
Authentic conversations. Group dynamics genuinely change when there are no mixed-gender pressures. Women’s conversations on these tours go deeper, faster — about life transitions, career decisions, relationships, motherhood, spiritual practices, body image at altitude. These conversations don’t happen the same way in mixed groups.
Cultural access. Certain Andean traditions are women-led. Visiting a women-led textile cooperative in Chinchero as a group of women weavers receiving a group of women travelers creates an exchange that mixed groups don’t experience the same way. The women weavers share aspects of their lives, daughters, and traditions they reserve for female visitors.
Bachelorette and milestone celebrations. Peru is increasingly popular as an alternative bachelorette destination versus traditional party cities. Why? Adventure over partying, bucket-list achievement, stunning Instagram-worthy photography, group bonding through shared challenge (the Short Inca Trail), wellness focus for pre-wedding stress relief, and cultural sophistication for groups with varied ages.
Sisterhood bonding through challenge. Completing the Short Inca Trail together — 11 km, 5 hours, ending at the Sun Gate at sunset — creates lifetime memories. Women who hike the Inca Trail together in a women-only group describe it as transformative.

This 5-day itinerary, designed exclusively for women travelers, follows the classic acclimatization-first sequence: a Cusco city tour, a Sacred Valley day with an overnight in Ollantaytambo, a Short Inca Trail hike to Machu Picchu, a full guided citadel tour, and a closing day at Rainbow Mountain by horseback.
Day 1’s Cusco city tour takes place at the city’s own 3,400 m elevation, giving the group its acclimatization baseline. Day 2’s overnight in Ollantaytambo drops to a gentler elevation in the Sacred Valley, setting up Day 3’s Short Inca Trail hike to the Sun Gate. Day 4’s Machu Picchu visit sits at a comfortable 2,400 m, and only on Day 5, the trip’s final day, does the group climb to Rainbow Mountain’s 5,100 m summit — by horseback, and after four full days of progressive acclimatization.
Cusco Cathedral · Coricancha · Sacsayhuaman · Q’enqo · Puca Pucara · Tambomachay
Pickup at 09:30 from your chosen hotel in Cusco or directly from Cusco airport if your flight arrives that morning. Your female bilingual guide and private vehicle take you straight into the half-day Cusco City Tour, the cultural foundation of the entire trip:
End of guided tour at approximately 14:30. Drop-off at your chosen hotel in Cusco. The afternoon is free for independent exploration of Plaza de Armas, San Pedro Market (excellent for textiles and women-owned stalls), or rest at your hotel. 🥾 THE MOST POWERFUL DAY OF THE TOUR
This is the iconic day. You’ll walk the original Inca pilgrim path that royals and priests used to approach Machu Picchu, ending at the Sun Gate where the citadel first appears below in panoramic view.
Pickup at 06:50 from your Ollantaytambo hotel. Short transfer to Ollantaytambo train station — be present by 06:10 to clear security and board on time. The Expedition train (one-way to Km 104) departs at 07:22 and arrives at the trailhead at 07:50.
At Km 104 — your female guide leads the group through the official Ministry of Culture control point. Passports are stamped, permits are verified. You enter the Inca Trail network — only 250 hikers per day are permitted on this route.
Section 1: Km 104 → Chachabamba ruins (15 min) — The first ten minutes climb gently along the Urubamba river. You’ll cross a footbridge over the river and reach Chachabamba, a small ceremonial site that marked the beginning of the pilgrim’s path to Machu Picchu. The guide will explain that female pilgrims (Acllas, the “Chosen Women” who served at Sun temples) used this same path.
Section 2: Chachabamba → first switchbacks (90 minutes ascending) — The trail climbs steeply through cloud forest with hummingbirds, orchids, and tropical butterflies. This is the most demanding section — 350 m of elevation gain. Take your time, hydrate, snack on coca leaves if you need altitude support. The cloud forest sounds, smells, and visual richness make this section magical.
Section 3: Mid-trail traverse (60 minutes) — The path levels out at approximately 2,500 m as it traverses the mountainside. You’ll see down into the deep Urubamba canyon and across to the Andean peaks. Stop for photos. The Inca stonework on this stretch is extraordinary — perfectly fitted steps placed 600+ years ago, still solid underfoot.
Section 4: Wiñay Wayna ruins (20 minutes exploration) — One of the most spectacular intermediate Inca sites on the entire Inca Trail network. Multiple terraces cascade down the mountainside, ceremonial baths, residential sectors, and ritual fountains. Box lunch break here with panoramic views.
Section 5: Wiñay Wayna → Inti Punku (Sun Gate) (90 minutes) — The final climb to the famous Sun Gate at 2,720 m / 8,920 ft. This is the dramatic stone gateway through which the Incas first saw Machu Picchu spreading out below. Your first view of Machu Picchu comes here — the panorama is breathtaking after 5 hours of trail. Group photo time. Many women report this moment as the emotional peak of the entire tour.
Section 6: Inti Punku → Machu Picchu citadel + shuttle to Aguas Calientes (45 minutes downhill walking + 30 min shuttle) — Descend from the Sun Gate along the Inca-built path into the citadel. Walk through the upper agricultural terraces with Machu Picchu spread out below. Note: Day 3 is the approach — the guided tour of Machu Picchu happens on Day 4. Today you’ll see the citadel from above but won’t enter the main archaeological sectors yet.
End of trail: shuttle bus down the switchback road to Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu Pueblo, 2,040 m). Drop-off at your chosen hotel. Many groups celebrate the completion of the Short Inca Trail with a women’s dinner at a recommended Aguas Calientes restaurant.

Early breakfast at your Aguas Calientes hotel. Your female guide meets the group at the lobby and you walk together to the shuttle bus station.
Shuttle bus to Machu Picchu sanctuary — the 25-minute switchback ride up the 8 km road to the citadel entrance at 2,400 m. Buses run continuously from 05:30 to 15:30. We coordinate your departure with your guide to match your scheduled entry time.
Machu Picchu — Circuit 3b guided tour with focus on women’s roles in the citadel. Your female guide highlights: the Acllas (Chosen Women) residential sector where 100+ female spiritual specialists lived, the Mama Killa (Moon Temple) with female-led ceremonies, the elite female burials discovered in the 1911 Bingham expedition (75% of skeletal remains were female — recent DNA analysis), the weaving sectors where women produced the imperial textiles, and the Acllas Wasi compound architecture. Your tour also covers the iconic Guardian’s House viewpoint and Sun Temple — but with a feminine perspective that 95% of Machu Picchu tours skip. After arriving via the Short Inca Trail the previous day, your Circuit 3b access (reserved for trail walkers) provides less-crowded photography conditions.
2-hour guided tour of Machu Picchu on Circuit 3b:
Your female guide will weave the feminine spiritual narrative throughout: the role of the Acllas (Chosen Women) who served at the temples, the Coya (Inca queens) and their political power, the female deities (Pachamama, Mama Killa, Mama Cocha), and the specific architectural elements designed for ceremonies honoring women’s cycles and lunar phases.
After the guided tour, return shuttle bus to Aguas Calientes. Lunch in Aguas Calientes (own expense — wide selection of restaurants in the town center).
Afternoon Expedition train Aguas Calientes → Ollantaytambo. Departure 14:30, arrival 16:04. Be at the station by 14:00 with passport in hand.
Private transfer Ollantaytambo → Cusco. Arrival at your chosen Cusco hotel approximately 17:50.

Cusco → Llactoc Trailhead → Vinicunca Summit (5,100 m) → Cusco → Airport
Pre-dawn pickup at 05:00 from your Cusco hotel. The day starts early because Rainbow Mountain is 3 hours south of Cusco through the Andes toward the Ausangate range — the highest mountain range visible from Cusco at 6,384 m.
Drive south through the high Andes — past traditional Quechua villages, herds of alpacas and vicuñas in their natural habitat, and the dramatic Ausangate glaciers in the distance. The road climbs from 3,350 m (Cusco) to 4,650 m (the Llactoc trailhead) over the course of 3 hours, with a breakfast stop midway.
At the Llactoc trailhead (4,650 m) you meet your personal horseman (arriero) and your horse. The horseman walks alongside your horse the entire ascent, ensuring safety on uneven terrain. He’s been doing this route for years — many of our horsemen are local Quechua men whose families have raised horses in this valley for generations.
The horseback ascent climbs steadily through the colorful high-Andean tundra. The route covers approximately 7 km in 50-55 minutes of horseback riding. You climb from 4,650 m at the trailhead to nearly 5,000 m at the dismount point. The horse handles the demanding climb at altitude — you sit, breathe deeply, and observe the surreal mineral landscape.
Dismount point → Rainbow Mountain summit (15-20 minutes walking) — From where the horse can no longer go safely (the final stretch is too steep), you walk the last 150 meters on foot to the summit viewpoint at 5,100 m / 16,732 ft. Take your time — at this altitude, even 15 minutes of walking requires deliberate breathing.
At the Rainbow Mountain summit — Time for photography of Vinicunca’s mineral-striped slopes (iron oxide red, copper sulfate green, chlorite white, magnesium yellow) and the surrounding Ausangate glacier views. Visibility of the colors depends on direct sunlight (clearest in dry season May to September).
Walking descent (1–1.5 hours, gravity-assisted) — Going downhill at altitude is significantly easier than going up. The trail is gentle, scenic, and many women find the descent enjoyable and meditative after the achievement at the summit.
Buffet lunch at the Cusipata area after the descent.
Return drive to Cusco — 3 hours back through the Andes. Arrive at approximately 15:30 to 17:00 depending on traffic.
End of tour: drop-off at your Cusco hotel OR directly at Cusco airport depending on your departure flight schedule. We coordinate timing with your flight so you arrive comfortably ahead of departure.

Most multi-day tour packages bundle hotels into the price and quietly add a 25–40% markup on top of the public rate. At Kondor Path Tours, we refuse to do this. As a direct local operator in Cusco, our promise is transparency: you choose your own hotel from any platform (Booking.com, Expedia, direct), pay the actual public rate, and we coordinate pickup from wherever you stay. You save money. You stay where you actually want to be. Our tour price has zero hidden hotel commissions.

Everything you need to know about our 5 Day Women-Only Tours Machu Picchu — designed exclusively for female travelers (solo women, girlfriend groups, sisters, mother-daughter trips, bachelorette parties, and women’s retreats).
Several reasons women specifically choose female-only travel. (1) Safety in numbers: solo female travelers report significantly more confidence in women-only groups in unfamiliar cultures.
(2) Authentic conversations: discussions among women often go deeper without mixed-gender group dynamics. (3) Cultural access: certain Andean traditions are women-led (textile cooperatives, female-only ceremonies).
(4) Wellness focus: yoga, meditation, plant medicine, and spa activities resonate differently in women-only spaces.
(5) Bachelorette / milestone celebrations: Peru is increasingly popular as an alternative bachelorette destination versus traditional party cities — adventure over partying, bucket list achievement, group bonding through shared challenge.
(6) Sisterhood bonding: completing the Short Inca Trail together creates lifetime memories.
Yes, whenever available. Our network includes certified female bilingual guides with DIRCETUR licensing and 3-10+ years of experience.
Female guides offer specific advantages: (1) Cultural bridge with Quechua women weavers and female-led cooperatives. (2) Comfort discussing women’s topics (Inca queens, female deities, women’s roles, menstrual practices).
(3) Same-gender safety in vulnerable situations (medical needs, fitting clothing at markets). (4) Empowerment narrative — female guides naturally frame Inca history through women’s lens.
Availability note: female guides represent approximately 30% of certified Cusco guides; we prioritize them for women-only bookings but cannot always guarantee. We can guarantee female guide availability with 60+ days advance notice.
The Short Inca Trail is the one-day version of the famous Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. Instead of the 4-day classic trek (45 km, 4 days), the Short Inca Trail covers the final 11 km of the original Inca pilgrim path in a single day.
The route starts at Km 104 of the railway (reached by an Expedition train from Ollantaytambo), climbs through cloud forest to the Wiñay Wayna ruins, traverses along the high mountainside to Inti Punku (the Sun Gate, 2,720 m) — where the Incas first saw Machu Picchu spread out below —
and ends at the Machu Picchu citadel viewpoint.
Total hike: 11 km / 5 hours / moderate-demanding difficulty. The Short Inca Trail is included in this Women-Only package — it cannot be skipped without changing the entire tour structure (it determines your Machu Picchu Circuit 5 entry on Day 4).
If you prefer not to hike the Short Inca Trail, choose our 5 Day Premiere Machu Picchu Tour instead.
The Short Inca Trail is rated moderate-demanding. Difficulty factors: (1) Distance: 11 km / 6.8 miles in 5 hours of walking. (2) Elevation gain: 670 m total over the first 3 hours.
(3) Altitude: starts at 2,000 m, peaks at 2,720 m at the Sun Gate. (4) Terrain: original Inca stone pavement, uneven steps, occasional muddy sections in rainy season.
(5) Weather: cloud forest microclimate — humid, occasionally rainy. What helps: this is not a high-altitude trek like Rainbow Mountain (no extreme altitude effects expected).
Most women in basic walking fitness complete it comfortably with appropriate pacing. We recommend 2-3 weeks of cardio preparation before your trip — walking, hiking, or stairs. Walking poles are highly recommended (rent in Cusco for ~$5/day).
One of the most cherished components of the Women-Only tour. What it includes: visit to a women-led textile cooperative in the Sacred Valley (typically in Chinchero or near Pisac, depending on tour date) — representing 30-80 indigenous Quechua women weavers.
The exchange includes: (1) Demonstration of natural dye preparation using cochineal (red), indigo (blue), nogal (brown), chilca (green), and other plant/mineral materials.
(2) Backstrap loom weaving demonstration — the 1,000+ year old technique still practiced by these communities.
(3) Conversation with the women weavers (with interpretation by your guide) about their lives, the cooperative’s economic empowerment of women in the community, and traditional knowledge passed from mother to daughter.
(4) Fair-trade purchasing opportunity — directly support these women’s economic independence with cash purchases (highly recommended over credit cards which delay payment to communities).
Cusco is widely considered one of the safer Latin American tourist destinations for solo female travelers, but standard precautions apply. What’s reassuring: (1) Heavy tourism police presence in Plaza de Armas and main tourist areas (POLTUR — dedicated tourism police).
(2) Well-lit historic center with active nightlife until 11 PM-12 AM. (3) Friendly local culture — Cusqueños are generally helpful and respectful toward female travelers. (4) Established female-traveler infrastructure — many women-friendly cafés, hotels, and tour operators.
What requires awareness: (1) Cat-calling possible on certain streets (less prevalent than in Lima but possible). (2) Pickpocketing in crowded markets — keep valuables in front pockets or anti-theft bags.
(3) Taxi safety — use registered taxis or apps (Cabify, InDriver) rather than street taxis. (4) Drink safety at clubs — same precautions as any global destination. Our package includes pre-arranged transport eliminating most risk factors.
Yes — one of the most popular features of women-only tours. Single supplement waiver: women traveling solo can request shared accommodation with another solo female traveler on the same departure date.
How it works: at booking, request “share-a-room” option; we match you with another solo female of similar age/profile on the same departure date; you’re notified 30 days before tour of your assigned roommate (with consent to share contact info).
Note: this matching applies to the hotels YOU choose — Kondor Path Tours doesn’t manage the hotel booking, but we help coordinate shared bookings. Privacy considerations: most recommended hotels have rooms with twin beds (separate beds) and private bathrooms.
If no match available: you book a single room at the hotel’s standard rate. This matching program has led to real, lasting friendships among past travelers.
Yes — Peru is increasingly popular as an alternative bachelorette destination versus traditional party cities. Why bachelorettes choose Peru: (1) Adventure over partying — for brides who want meaningful experiences rather than club hopping.
(2) Bucket list achievement — Machu Picchu is a once-in-a-lifetime destination. (3) Photography — stunning Instagram-worthy moments throughout. (4) Group bonding through shared adventure — completing the Short Inca Trail together creates a story your group will tell for years.
(5) Wellness focus — pre-wedding stress relief through fresh mountain air, hiking, and shared challenge. (6) Cultural sophistication — appealing to brides whose groups include various ages and dynamics.
Custom bachelorette add-ons available: bride-to-be sash for photos at iconic locations, photographer for one day, customized welcome dinner. Group sizes 6-12 most common. Book 4-5 months ahead for high season.
